MADIDI National Park and Natural Area Integrated Management
It was created on September 21, 1995. Madidi National Park and Natural Integrated Management
Area is located in the northwest region of the Department of La Paz in the provinces Franz Tamayo,
Iturralde and Bautista Saavedra. To get to Madidi, the key is the city of La Paz. From that city exists
two possibilities: by Apollo or Rurrenabaque.
By Apollo: by air and by land. By plane, every fortnight by TAM (Military Air Transport). By land,
La Paz - Caranavi - Guanay - Apollo.
By Rurrenabaque: by air and by land. By plane, three times a week, TAM (Military Air Transport).
By land, La Paz - Caranavi - Yucumo - Rurrenabaque.
Once in Apollo or Rurrenabaque, entry to the area are trail or boat.
The activities that you can performed in this park are:
- The journey from Apollo is an experience that combines trekking with navigating the Tuichi
River and the Beni River.
- From Rurrenabaque it is possible to browse the Beni River and enter the river Tuichi to camp
and do some hiking through the jungle.
- It is also possible to visit the Tacana community of San José de Uchupiamonas from Tumupasa,
taking a trekking route that reaches the river Tuichi, later to navigate the same river to Rurrenabaque.
- Regardless of the route taken, the scenery is always different and unique and there are many
opportunities for wildlife viewing.
